PSORIASIS

Kalawalla
Polypodium leucotomos 50:1 standardized extract
for the Alleviation of PSORIASIS

Food Supplement
Natural Product

Psoriasis is a non-contagious skin disorder that most commonly appears as inflamed swollen skin lesions covered with silvery white scale. Among several types of Psoriasis, there is Plaque Psoriasis, which is characterized by raised, inflamed (red) lesions covered with a silvery white scale. The scale is actually a buildup of dead skin cells. There is also Guttate Psoriasis characterized by small red dots of psoriasis, which may have some scales.

M.M.R. from Washington had this to say: I am a beliver! I had psoriasis for most of my life. I had tried many remedies, drugs and UV treatments but my psoriasis never really went away or came back after finishing the treatment. I was so glad that Kalawalla worked by taking a few pills a day and I am happily surprised that my psoriasis is not coming back!

Significant results within 2-3 months

Psoriasis may cause stiffness, pain, and joint damage. Scalp Psoriasis affects half the people who suffer from Psoriasis and is characterized by inflamed lesions covered by silver scaling in the scalp.

Here is what Rachel F. from CT had to say: Great Product! After about two months my psoriasis in my arms, scalp and in between my toes has almost gone! I can't be happier.

Psoriasis affects millions of people. Some of Psoriasis patients suffer all their lives never being able to overcome the disease. Psoriasis can be linked to an immune system imbalance. Kalawalla (Polypodium leucotomos 50:1 standardized extract) can help regulate the immune system bringing it to its healthiest, strongest levels. Kalawalla has been is used in Europe and Australia (under trade names Difur and Leucostat). Noticeable results can be seen within the first month of taking the product.

Ask one of our MEDICAL DOCTORS how Kalawalla can help you!

Polypodium leucotomos has many clinical studies that prove that it regulates the CD4/CD8 ratios to their normal values. Most researchers will agree that this regulation alone is key to offer protection against all types of psoriasis. Europeans have used Polypodium leucotomos extract for over 10 years with surprising results in Psoriasis. Polypodium is used in Australia and New Zealand as a novel way of fighting psoriasis.

This product is a food supplement not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. It is rather a food supplement, which has proven successful in Psoriasis patients helping them have a healthier immune system that helps them fight the disease. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.

LAUGHTER... WHY IT IS SO GOOD FOR YOU

For hundreds of years, we've known that "Laughter is the best
medicine".

Laughter makes you feel good for a reason. The physiological
effects on your body are amazing. For example:

· Laughter reduces levels of certain stress hormones. It
provides a safety valve that shuts off the flow of stress
hormones and the fight-or-flight compounds that come into
action in times of trouble, or hostility or rage.

· Laughter boosts the immune system because when you're in a
state of mirth, natural killer cells that destroy tumors
and viruses increase. It basically brings balance to all
the components of the immune system.

· Laughter can be a total body workout! Do you often feel
exhausted after a bout of contagious giggling? This is
because you have just had an aerobic workout.

· Blood pressure is lowered and there is an increase in
vascular blood flow, and an increase in oxygenation of
the blood. Oxygenation of the blood enables the body to
carry on healing activities for itself.

· There also has been some belief that laughter prevents some
life-threatening diseases such as heart disease. That's
because anger and fear (two emotions that often lead to
heart attack) are completely eliminated while you are
laughing.

Laughing invokes happiness and joy.

Instead of being gloomy and frustrated because there is no
perceived solution, laughing lifts you up out of your pool
of problems and places you on solid ground where you can gain
some new insights. Under conditions of happiness it is much
easier to think creatively around a problem than when your mind
is filled with thoughts of helplessness or worthlessness.

Shared laughter promotes bonding and unity within a group. This
is particularly evident when there are a few people involved in a
project. People feel more welcome and free to offer suggestions
and think out loud. They're not afraid of being put down, so
will risk sharing their opinion.

Laughter also opens the door
to more real and risky communication. Sometimes people are
feeling scared or overwhelmed by conditions, but don't know how
to express it. If a humorous comment is made that expresses the
concerns in an exaggerated way, people will laugh. This then
enables them to talk about the uncomfortable issues or concerns.

By laughing, an entry is made for talk about the subject. This
applies just as well in a family setting.

21 REASONS for being VEGETARIAN

21 REASONS for being VEGETARIAN
Vegetarianism is the fastest growing trend in the developed world. Here are 21
reasons why you should think about turning green too.

Avoiding meat is one of the best and simplest ways to cut down your fat
consumption. Modern farm animals are deliberately fattened up to increase
profits. Eating fatty meat increases your chances of having a heart attack or
developing cancer.

Every minute of every working day, thousands of animals are killed in
slaughter-houses. Pain and misery are common. In the US alone, 500,000 animals
are killed for meat every hour.

There are millions of cases of food poisoning recorded every year. The vast
majority are caused by eating meat.

Meat contains absolutely nothing - no proteins, vitamins or minerals - that the
human body cannot obtain perfectly happily from a vegetarian diet.

African countries - where millions are starving to death - export grain to the
developed world so that animals can be fattened for our dining tables.

'Meat' can include the tail, head, feet, rectum and spinal cord of an
animal.
A sausage can contain ground up intestines. How can anyone be sure that the
intestines are empty when they are ground up? Do you really want to eat the
content of a pig's intestines?

If we eat the plants we grow instead of feeding them to animals, the
world's food shortage will disappear virtually overnight. Remember that 100
acres of land will produce enough beef for 20 people but enough wheat to feed
240 people.

Every day, tens of millions of one-day-old male chicks are killed because they
will not be able to lay eggs. There are no rules about how this mass slaughter
takes place. Some are crushed or suffocated to death. Many are used for
fertiliser or fed to other animals.

Animals who die for your dinner table die alone, in terror, in sadness and in
pain. The killing is merciless and inhumane.

It's must easier to become (and stay) slim if you are a vegetarian. (By
'slim', I do not mean 'abnormally slender' or
'underweight' but rather, an absense of excess weight!)

Half the rainforests in the world have been destroyed to clear ground to graze
cattle to make beefburgers. The burning of the forests contributes 20% of all
green-house gases. Roughtly 1,000 species a year become extinct because of the
destruction of the rainforests. Approximately 60 million people a year die of
starvation. All those lives could be saved because those people could eat grain
used to fatten cattle and other farm animals - if Americans ate 10% less meat.

The world's fresh water shortage is being made worse by animal farming. And
meat producers are the biggest polluters of water. It takes 2,500 gallons of
water to produce one pound of meat. If the US meat industry wasn't supported
by the taxpayer paying a large proportion of its water costs, then hamburger
meat would cost $35 a pound.

If you eat meat, you are consuming hormones that were fed to the animals. No
one knows what effect those hormones will have on your health. In some parts of
the world, as many as one on four hamburgers contain growth hormones that were
originally given to cattle.

The following diseases are commoner among meat eaters: anaemia, appendicitis,
arthritis, breast cancer, cancer of the colon, cancer of the prostrate,
constipation, diabetes, gallstones, gout, high blood pressure, indigestion,
obesity, piles, strokes and varicose veins. Lifelong vegetarians visit hospital
22% less often than meat eaters and for shorter stays. Vegetarians have a 20%
lower blood cholestrol level than meat eaters and this reduces heart attack and
cancer risks considerably.

Some farmers use tranquillisers to keep animals calm. Other routinely use
antibiotics to starve off infection. When you eat meat you are eating those
drugs. In America, 55% of all antibiotics are fed to animals and the percentage
of staphylococci infections resistant to penicillin went up from 14% in 1960 to
91% in 1988.

In a lifetime, the average meat eater will consumer 36 pigs, 36 sheep and 750
chickens and turkeys. Do you want that much carnage on your conscience?

Animals suffer from pain and fear just as much as you do. How would you like to
spend your last hours locked in a truck, packed into a cage with hundreds of
other terrified animal and then cruelly pushed into a blood soaked death
chamber. Anyone who eats meat condones and supports the way animals are treated.

Animals which are a year old are often far more rational - and capable of
logical thought - than six week old babies. Pigs and sheep are far more
intelligent than small children. Eating dead animals is barbaric.
Vegetarians are fitter than meat eaters. many of the world's most
successful athletes are vegetarian.

If wrinkles be written,
Let them be on your brows....
and not be on the heart;
Let the soul grow ageless !!

Pass the butter please!... must read

Pass The Butter ... Please.

This is interesting . . ..

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

DO YOU KNOW the difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few
only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine..

Very high in Trans fatty acids.

Triple risk of coronary heart disease.
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.

Lowers quality of breast milk.

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..

This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends... (If you want to 'butter them up')!

Chinese Proverb:
'When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.

Blood glucose test

Why is a blood sugar test done?

Diabetes mellitus is diagnosed based on a high level of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Blood sugar test, done fasting and 2 hours after breakfast, is used for the diagnosis of diabetes.

How is the test done?

Fasting blood glucose: In this test, a person is asked to fast overnight, at least 8 hours, and the level of glucose in the blood is then checked. Post prandial (PP) blood glucose: This is tested two hours after having a meal. It serves as a challenge for the body to regulate the blood sugar after a meal. Random blood sugar or glucose test is that which is done at any other time. The blood glucose can also be tested after giving 75 gm glucose by mouth (glucose challenge test). This is useful for detecting borderline diabetes and a condition called "impaired glucose tolerance". Blood glucose tests are also needed for checking the control in diabetes.

What are the normal values?

Normal fasting plasma glucose levels are less than 110 mg/dl. Normal PP plasma glucose levels are less than 140 mg/dl.

What are the abnormal values?

A fasting plasma glucose level of more than 126 mg/dl indicates diabetes mellitus. A level between 110-125 mg/ dl is called "impaired fasting glucose". A PP or random plasma glucose level of more than 200 mg/dl indicates diabetes mellitus. A level between 140-199 mg/ dl is called "impaired glucose tolerance". A blood sugar exceeding the level of 200 mg/dl or higher generally indicates the presence of diabetes.

What is the role of insulin?

The body breaks down food into glucose (sugar) and uses it as a source of energy. Insulin helps the cells of the body to utilize this glucose for energy, and to store the excess in the liver for later use. Thus insulin regulates the blood glucose (sugar) levels. In diabetics, the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use the produced insulin effectively. This results in a high level of glucose in the blood ("hyperglycemia"

NIH reporting Vitamin C Might Help Fight Cancer, Someday..
Contributor: Christopher Bruno
Published On: 08/06/2008

Cancerous mice injected with Vitamin C saw a 43 to 51 percent reduction in tumor size, according to a recent study published by doctors from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Although the findings are preliminary, and still need to be tested in humans, the results indicate that Vitamin C may one day be included in the treatment protocol for some cancers.
While high doses of intravenous Vitamin C may not be a pragmatic treatment for cancer just yet, there are still plenty of good reasons to drink orange juice every day. Here are five:
Beautiful Skin Vitamin C is necessary to form collagen, a key protein used to make skin and keep it healthy.
Healing Power Vitamin C is responsible for the growth and repair of tissue in all parts of your body.
Cheap Antioxidants (Forget Overpaying for Pom!) Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant, and blocks damage caused by free radicals
Cold Fighting Power (Maybe) Although popular culture tells us that Vitamin C helps prevent and treat colds, modern medicine disagrees. Still, if youre sick, a little OJ certainly wont hurt.
Your Body Doesnt Store It Because Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, it is not stored in the body and must be replenished daily
<>With all of these benefits, and the promise that it may one day help in the fight against cancer, we should all raise a glass of OJ in salute to Vitamin C.

All about Cholesterol

Cholesterol Knowledge

Cholesterol is a lipidic, waxy alcohol found in the cell membranes and transported in the blood plasma of all animals. It is an essential component of mammalian cell membranes where it is required to establish proper membrane permeability and fluidity. Cholesterol is the principal sterol synthesized by animals, but small quantities are synthesized in other eukaryotes, such as plants and fungi. It is almost completely absent among prokaryotes, which include bacteria. Cholesterol is classified as a sterol (a contraction of steroid and alcohol).

Although cholesterol is essential for life, high levels in circulation are associated with atherosclerosis. Cholesterol is synthesized in virtually all cells, and significant amounts of it can be absorbed from the diet.

Function

Cholesterol is required to build and maintain cell membranes; it regulates membrane fluidity over a wide range of temperatures. The liver produces about 1 gram of cholesterol per day, in bile

Cholesterol level

>200mg/dl or less than 5.0 mmol/l Low heart attack risk

200-240mg/dl or 5.2-6.2mmol/ l Borderline

>240mg/dl or >6.2mmol/l High risk

High blood cholesterol and triglycerides

The medical term for high blood cholesterol and triglycerides is lipid disorder. Such a disorder occurs when you have too many fatty substances in your blood. These substances include cholesterol and triglycerides.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

High cholesterol and other lipid disorders can be inherited (passed down through families) or associated with:

* Fatty diets

* Disease such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, Cushing syndrome, and kidney failure

* Certain medications, including birth control pills, estrogen, corticosteroids, certain diuretics, and beta-blockers

* Lifestyle factors, including inactivity and regular, excessive alcohol use

If you smoke and also have high cholesterol you have an even greater risk for heart disease.

Lipid disorders are more common in men than women.

Signs and tests

Tests to diagnose a lipid disorder may include:

* Lipoprotein test

* Lipoprotein( a) analysis

* HDL test

* LDL test

Treatment

How you are treated depends on your age, health history, if you smoke, and other risk factors for heart disease, such as:

* Diabetes

* Poorly controlled high blood pressure

* Family history of heart disease

There are steps that everyone can take to improve their cholesterol levels, and help prevent heart disease and heart attack. Here are the most important ones:

* Choose foods low in saturated fat. (See cholesterol for more information. )

* Exercise regularly.

* Lose weight if you are overweight.

* Get routine health checkups and cholesterol screenings.

If lifestyle changes do not help or your cholesterol level remains very high, your doctor may may recommend medication. There are several types of drugs available to help lower blood cholesterol levels, and they work in different ways. Some are better at lowering LDL cholesterol, some are good at lowering triglycerides, while others help raise HDL cholesterol.

The most commonly used drugs for treating high LDL cholesterol are called statins. Other drugs that may be used include bile acid sequestering resins, cholesterol absorption inhibitors, fibrates, and nicotinic acid (niacin).

Expectations (prognosis)

If you are diagnosed with high cholesterol, you will probably need to continue lifestyle changes and drug treatment throughout your life. Periodic monitoring of your cholesterol blood levels is necessary. Reducing high cholesterol levels will slow the progression of atherosclerosis.

Complications

Possible complications of high cholesterol include:

* Atherosclerosis

* Coronary artery disease

* Stroke

* Heart attack or death

Prevention

To help prevent high cholesterol:

* Keep a healthy body weight

* Eat a well-balanced, low-fat diet
