MALARIA AND HOMOEOPATHY
It was two centuries ago that Samuel Hahnemann discovered
Homeopathic Medicine when the cinchona bark he was chewing
on produced a chill, very characteristic of malaria and the
same given to patients with the same symptoms cured. So it
led to the birth of Homeopathy and the meaning of which is
Homo is similar,eo is symptom and pathy is suffering.
Any substance producing few symptoms when given in a refined
and dynamic dilution to a patient with the same symptoms will
cure them. This is the principle of the Homoeopathy.
MALARIA - TRANSMISSION,CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS: Malaria is a disease
of the tropics like India where there is a preponderance of growth
of Anopheles mosquito, a carrier of the disease, breeding in marshy
Swampy areas or simple where there is collection of water due to
bad hygiene and sanitation.A one - celled parasite plasmodium is
the infectious agent causing malaria. It spreads from one person
to the other when an Anopheles mosquito bites an infected person.
When the mosquito ingests blood this parasite enters into the
stomach wall, get nourished there and enters into its salivary
glands. When the mosquito bits a normal person this plasmodium
enter into the blood circulation ,reach the liver and tend to
hibernate there. They get released into the blood circulation at
regular intervals causing the characteristic fever and chills.
The plasmodium when it enters into the blood circulation causes
high fever and chills and when it returns into the liver the
fever comes down. The other symptoms are severe body ache, nausea
and vomitting, sometimes burning while passing urine etc.
TYPES AND COMPLICATIONS : There are four species of plasmodium
i.e ovale, vivax, falciparum and malariae which causes this
infection. If it is due to ovale and vivax species they tend to
remain in the liver cells for years too and cause malaria at
regular intervals.Plasmodium malariae can remain in the blood
circulation for several years and this person can transmit if
it a mosquito bites him.Of all the types falciparum malaria
is the most dangerous as it can rapidly disintegrate the red
blood cells causing severe anaemia and can block the blood
vessels of the brain called cerebral malaria which can lead to
death too in amatter of days. The other complications of malaria
are liver and kidney failure too.
PREVENTION OF MALARIA : Windows should be properly netted, bed
should have mosquito nets to prevent mosquitoes.
Proper sanitation should be maintained by flushing out the
stagnant water to stop breeding of mosquitoes.
COMMON REMEDIES FOR MALARIA :
1) CINCHONA gets rid of the malaria with chills in the afternoon
and is a good remedy for improving the anaemia due the same.
2) EUPATORIUM PERF cures the malaria with chills, which start
in the back as the patients complain of severe bone pains
during fever.
3) GELSEMIUM helps cure malaria with a tendency for chill followed
by heat and sweat stage which leave him tired with muscular
soreness.
4) IPECACUANA cures the malaria with a severe nausea and vomitting
and also when patients have the recurrence due to inadequate
diet.
5) NATRUM MUR cures patients of malaria who have increased thirst,
weakness, constipation, loss of appetite and also helps in
preventing recurrence.
