ANGINA AND HOMEOPATHY PART - II

(In cases of Angina,coronary Artery Disease and post MI)

OBJECTIVE
A study was under taken to evaluate the efficacy of Tonicard as
an adjunct therapy to all cardiac problems. The two main conditions
selected for study were patients of Angina and coronary artery
disease (CAD).Patients selected for study were known cases of
Myocardial infarction and, CAD with Angina as the predominant
symptoms. Only patients with suitable angina were included in the
study and not of unstable angina.
Tonicard was administrated to a total of 129 cases of which there
were 79 males and 50 females whereas the follow up only 56 cases
could be kept.Of which there were 29 males and 27 females.
Out of 56 patients whose follow up was possible there were 38
patients of angina,11 cases of CAD, 7 cases of post myocardial
infarction, one case of bundle branch block.The symptoms monitored
were: 48 patients complained of pain chest,21 patients of
palpitation, 15 patients with breathlessness and fatigue,
3 complained of cough, 19 with anxiety, 7 had feeling of heaviness
in the chest and 7 with numbness of the arm.
Patients were allowed to continue their allopathic drugs which
comprised of various combination of sorbitrate, Beta blockers,
Calcium channel blockers,ACE inhibitors,Disprin, diuretics when
required.
patients taken under study were known cases of MI,CAD and Angina.
patients selected were those who had inadequate control of symptoms
like chest pain,palpitation,breathlessness.
Diagnosis were based on ECG evidence and TMT.
Angina cases were diagnosed by the symptoms, ST changes in ECG
and ST depression.
The patients as per NYHA category fell into the II and III class
category.
All cases were asked to have a blood and lipid profile done and
blood pressure monitored.
The drug Tonicard (Homeopathy) was given for a duration 6 months.
DOSAGE :
All the patients were briefed about the Tonicard and were made
aware that it contained homoeopathic medicines.They were advised
to take 15-20 drops TDS in 1/4 cup of water. Tonicard was
recommended to be taken at least one hour either before or after
the intake of other prescribed allopathic drugs.
They were also advised to take 15-20 drops of Tonicard whenever
discomfort, palpitation or pain felt was by the patient.
