LIVER FUNCTION AND HOMOEOPATHY

LIVER FUNCTION AND HOMOEOPATHY Liver is the largest organs of the body which goes about its duty with a workman like quality, unerring, undeterred, unaffected by the functions of the other organs and with ease. Liver has a multi faceted function. It neutralizes the poisons from the blood, produces immune agents to control infection, removes germs and bacteria from the blood, makes proteins specific for blood clotting and produces bile to absorb fats and fat-soluble vitamins. For any organ to function at its optimum the metabolism supplies the nutrients through the circulation of blood and so too for the liver. But when the nutrition to the liver due to decreased blood supply occurs, the liver forms into a scar tissue and losing its potency for normal function called Cirrhosis of liver. Regular intake of alcohol injures the liver by blocking the normal metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Cirrhosis can also occur due to malnutrition, obesity, abuse of medicines, hereditary diseases, blockage of bile ducts etc. Symptoms of cirrhosis: Loss of appetite, weakness, nausea, abdominal discomfort and exhaustion at slightest exertion. Problems due to cirrhosis: Jaundice and gallstones will become very common. High blood pressure and diabetes can also occur as complications. HOMOEOPATHY : CHELIDONIUM ---- degeneration due to gallstones and blockage of the bile ducts.
